Undersea gliders are capable of monitoring over large space and time scales that are not possible with other technologies.  In our lab, we work on developing gliders as multi-trophic ecosystem monitoring tools.  At this time we are developing the application of novel multifrequency echosounder sensors to measure copepod biomass at fine vertical resolutions in the water column.  In combination with hydrophones and sensors for measuring key biological and physical characteristics of the ocean, we can begin to explain variation in the distribution of oceanographic habitat conditions in new ways
